Heaton Moor is one of the Four Heatons located in Stockport. It borders on Heaton Chapel, Heaton Norris and Heaton Mersey. Heaton Moor is characterised by the affluent Victorian Houses for rent built between 1852 and 1892 along tree lined streets which follow the field patterns of a former agricultural economy.

Heaton Moor has little public open space with the exception of Heaton Moor Park and Thornfield Park, but because of its tree lined roads and the fact that the houses for rent & the apartments for rent are set well back from the street, it gives the impression of having more, and of Victorian affluence.

The Heaton Moor Rugby Club has been representing the area in the Rugby fraternity for over 100 years. After a number of years of decline from near top level status pre league structures, a steady improvement in form in recent years has led to a re-emergence of the club in the local leagues.

In the section closest to Heaton Chapel railway station, The Elizabethan, The Plough and The Crown pubs all reside on Heaton Moor Road in the centre of Heaton Moor's nightlife along with cafe-bars The Bakery, The Orangery and Town bar.

Shaw Road is another socially active part of Heaton Moor and is home to a number of restaurants; The Heaton Tandoori and The Kushoom Koly which serve Indian cuisine, Spanish tapas restaurant La Casona and Italian restaurant Amillio's. Bo Ho and Mhariam are popular take-away restaurants which provide Chinese and Indian food respectively. The Blue Cat Cafe plays host to local and international bands and artists, Cassidy's bar provides live entertainment and karaoke and neighbour Pokusevski's delicatessen.

Heaton Moor's most famous son is Hollywood actor Dominic Monaghan, who plays 'Merry' in the Lord of the rings trilogy and Charlie Pace in the TV phenomenon 'Lost'.

In recent years, Heaton Moor's house prices have risen drastically due to its desirable location for commuting to Manchester. Heaton Moor always was the most prestigious of the Four Heatons.
