Philip James is proud to announce the launch of its new Facebook and Twitter sites. Company owner Philip Nolan and South Manchester branch manager Alistair Gilles explain why embracing social media is so important to Philip James…

Philip Nolan on Facebook

“I’m delighted that Philip James has started 2011 by embracing social media. No modern company worth its salt can afford to ignore fast-moving social-network sites such as like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn – and Philip James is no exception. Once we’d agreed to start working with social-networking sites we needed to decide why we were doing it and who could benefit the most.

The answer was simple. We’d create a Facebook page to keep all our clients, tenants and landlords up-to-date with our latest news, from student offers to the newest properties for sale and rent. The world of estate agency is a fast-moving one and Facebook gives us the chance to keep all our clients up-to-date with what we’re doing. Facebook may have a time-wasting frivolous side (who hasn’t spent hours on Farmville?!) but we believe by concentrating our Facebook page on property news and updates, we can keep in touch with all our clients and keep them entertained at the same time.

So please follow us on Facebook and watch Philip James grow throughout 2011. We promise you the latest blogs and the most up-to-date property news.”

Alastair Gilles on Twitter

“The first few months of 2011 are going to be the busiest time for us at the Withington office. The students from Manchester University and Manchester Metropolitan spend most of January and February searching for somewhere to live for the next academic year – so we’re doing everything we can to find the right properties for them – and this includes our new Twitter site, specifically designed to help students with their search.

From 10-bedroom houses in Didsbury to 3-bedroom apartments in Fallowfield, our new Twitter site keeps students updated with all our latest properties. Twitter has provided us the perfect opportunity to list our new student houses before they’re officially released and gives us the chance to promote all our new offers.

Life is pretty hard for students at the moment and we’re gobsmacked that most of our competitors are still charging one week’s rent in administration fees – this can be up to £900. So to help our student tenants we’ve scrapped our fees – now they can rent a property from Philip James and it won’t cost them a penny in admin fees. Twitter helps with this too – every day we Tweet our newest student properties and we tell our followers EXACTLY how much they’re saving by renting from Philip James! “
