If you were to ask anyone what they valued most in the world most people would say their family, friends, and a warm place to call their home. In our society, we often take all these things for granted, but for many Ukrainian families, the loss of all of these is incredibly real. Overcoming insurmountable odds to reach the UK, one family (who asked not to be mentioned for privacy reasons) arrived in the UK needing to rebuild a new life after fleeing their home due to the Russian invasion.
Amid the 24-hour news cycle and the information overload from your phone, it is often easy to become desensitised to the plight of other people. But it is vital to make sure that this does not happen. Throughout the conflict, there have been many fantastic stories of families and individuals being met with compassion and kindness, and the experience for the family is no different.
Driven by a commitment to making a difference, our owner Philip Nolan donated one of his properties for free to the family, giving them a safe place to call home. As part of this commitment, Philip James Partnership will be managing the property for free which will be overseen by Director, Rob Cuffe. Throughout the year, his team will be regularly checking in and making sure that any issues are dealt with promptly and efficiently. Helping to provide a sense of normality in all the chaos.

Not only was the family provided a free home, but our partner of 15+ years, LOFT, worked with us to furnish the property from top to bottom for free. We were absolutely delighted to be working with them again, particularly a company that shares our commitment to corporate responsibility.

In addition to this, we worked with Stockport Homes to identify a family and make sure they had a safe place to live. By pooling our resources and expertise, we hoped to amplify the impact of our efforts and contribute to the collective response to the crisis.
In the face of the ongoing refugee crisis, acts of compassion and solidarity are beacons of hope for many. At Philip James, we are humbled to be part of the collective effort to support Ukrainian refugees in Manchester. By providing housing, in collaboration with Stockport Homes and with the invaluable support of LOFT, we aim to restore a sense of stability and provide some security for those who have endured immense hardship. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by this crisis.
After collecting the keys for the property the family sent Philip James this message to express their thanks.

We wanted to express our sincere gratitude to both of you for your incredible support during our family’s challenging journey from Ukraine to the United Kingdom, escaping the Russian invasion.
Your generosity in providing us with a furnished home without any rent for a whole year has made a tremendous difference in our lives. Your kindness has given us a sense of stability and security that we thought we had lost. We cannot thank you enough for your selflessness and compassion.
Arun and Rob, we are immensely grateful for your assistance in securing the house for us and making the process smooth and hassle-free. Your professionalism and dedication have been invaluable, and we appreciate your efforts in helping us find a new home.
